With the success and popularity of Assassin’s Creed Origins, many have been wondering what Ubisoft’s next move will be when it comes to the historical franchise. Will the French publisher opt to pump out another game later this year? Or will it take its time, and try for another hit a little later down the line? Going by the words of Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot, the answer is, thankfully, the latter. Quoted on Twitter by Jason Schreier, Guillemot commented on the future of Assassin’s Creed at the company’s latest financial briefing.
When asked if the series will be annualised again, he said “We are concentrating on the moment on Assassin’s Creed: Origins, for which we are going to launch a few other DLCs. It sounds like Ubisoft has extended its plans for Origins. The game’s first expansion launched last month, and its second is due in March, so does this mean that there’s going to be even more after that? Given how long Ubisoft has been supporting other titles, it certainly seems plausible. Guillemot added, “You will be amazed by what will come on Assassin’s Creed Origins, so that’s the only thing we can say now.

Are you happy with Ubisoft supporting Origins with more DLC rather than pumping out another title? Keep those blades hidden in the comments section below. When he’s not practising combos, he’s usually getting lost in the latest 100-hour RPG, or, y’know, replaying The Witcher 3. I would love to come back for new content. Origins was a brilliant bounce back for the series and I’m perfectly content with ‘a few other DLCs’ for it while a larger team focuses on the next game but doesn’t have to worry about throwing it out there so soon after the most recent one.
I haven’t played it yet, but plan to. I very much welcome the approach to expand this game some more and wait on the inevitable sequel a little longer. I will not say no to new content for Assassin’s Creed Origins. I’m enjoying it but I’m going to pass on the dlc. It’s always great to see a triple-A company really focusing on, and investing in, more single-player content for their game.
DLC that’s probably cut from the original game anyway as no DLC is made from the ground up anymore. I am happy with more DLC’s – just hope they are covered though with the Season Pass I have as I doubt I would pay more for another ‘hidden ones’ size expansion. I enjoyed the hidden ones and looking forward to the next. I doubt any will be of the length and substance that the Witcher3’s Blood and Wine offered. Nakatomi_Uk I doubt the Hidden Ones was cut from the main game. Its in a totally new area with a story set 4yrs on from the main game. May actually pick up my first Assassin’s Creed game, when the inevitable GOTY edition releases.
